March 2005 Monthly Newsletter
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
The choice Jesus Christ made at Gethsemane cost Him everything. It cost Him His life. But in giving His life, Jesus never lost it. He multiplied it tens of millions of times in the souls that were saved. Likewise, it will cost you and me everything to make the right choice, but what we give will not be lost, it will be multiplied, back to us, many times in many ways. "If you save your life you will lose it, but if you lose it for the gospel you will find it." "And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward."
Having set forth the example Jesus issued this fiat to all who would follow Him. "If any man will be my disciple let him first deny himself..." With these words Jesus opened up the only path that leads to the fulfillment of the great commission. "The love of Christ constraineth (captivates, controls) me...," cried the apostle Paul, and that cry was the key to his rugged life of total abandonment. Every great work of God has stemmed from the propensity of a few saints for united action and self sacrifice. The willingness for self sacrifice is brought about by our becoming part of something we perceive to be greater than ourselves. Like the Apostle Paul, "The love of Christ must also constrain us."
Because we know that the manifest life of God is the answer to every problem, life is what the School of Christ is about. Our message is, "you must become before you can do." For this life of God to be manifested the self life has to be denied for all that we are by nature is contrary to this divine life. The School of Christ is not just another analytical Bible study, it is a light that shines into the darkness, and the darkness comprehends it not. We, the School of Christ, well understand that we must demonstrate that Jesus is alive; else the darkness will mock us. The light that shined out of the upper room in Jerusalem broke the powers of Rome. That same light will break the powers of Islam, Hinduism and all the other anti-god religions.
There is one thing we must know and know well, and that is, if the true Church of Jesus Christ is to prevail over the darkened reprobate mind of our time, her light must break forth as the morning. That means it must break forth suddenly with awesome brilliance and power. To break the powers of this demon ridden age, we must have a repeat of that moment in history, when, "suddenly there came a sound from heaven," and thousands were converted instantly. For this purpose the School of Christ was born, and to this end we are dedicated.
On the grounds of what we have already accomplished (the School of Christ at this writing is in reach of two thirds of the world's population), I can say with absolute confidence that can reach this generation for Christ! God has not called us to the possible, but the impossible. The impossible only occurs on the far side of resurrection. There can be no resurrection apart from death. Fruit comes out of death, death to ourselves. As long as we maintain reservation with God there can be no real revival. It is when we give Him our all that we in return receive His all.
The key to reaching our generation is obedience, simply doing what He says. Faith is simply willing to do the will of God. God never commands us to do anything but what He will give the power to do it. If we will simply set ourselves to obey our Lord, that is, simply move out on His Word, give Him what we have, we will see God in a greater way than we have ever seen Him. A lad's lunch in the hands of Jesus can feed thousands. Poverty in His hands is great wealth. It is not a question of resources at all, if you and I will cease to reason, and simply give Him what we have, there will be more than enough.
God bless you for your love, your prayers and your support. God will not forget your labor of love.
God bless you,
His bondservant B. H. Clendennen
