I didn't get saved till I was 36 years old. Through a dramatic, miraculous salvation, God poured out His mercy and revealed His Son to me in October 1980. So under the ministry of a southern Baptist pastor, I accepted Jesus into my heart. But that pastor lived in another state and the next day I had to return home. All I knew was that I was born again and needed to get back to church.
After I received the baptism in the Holy Ghost, I began to preach everywhere I went; but I wasn't rooted and grounded in the faith with sound doctrine. As a result, I bounced from this group to that seeking to find the truth of the Word of God. I suffered many things as a result of the doctrinal confusion which existed in the "church" at that time.
I had been a missionary for four years when God sent Bro. Clendennen in June of 2000 to Mae Sot, Thailand to the church that we had pioneered; I knew that I had finally found the truth of the Word of God. The impact of the school was so great upon my life that I knew I had to get it to my people in Thailand. We knew that it was a special move of God as Bangkok or Chiangmai would have been the most likely place for the school to be initiated.
Although we had the SOC in the Thai language, we desperately needed it in the Karen language. Finally in November 2003, Bro. Clendennen sent Daren Downs to put the school into that language. A prophecy came forth from a young woman student who said that she saw a bridge going out from our second floor all over the world. We, in our limited vision, thought yes to Myanmar, Thailand, Laos and neighboring countries. But, God had a bigger plan as now, the Karen people have been located in over 30 nations of the earth. To the U.S.A., God has sent over 100,000 located in over 41 states. We have begun ministering to them now here in the U.S.
Upon conclusion of the Karen SOC, the Lord immediately opened the door to place the school into the Burmese language as well. So in February 2005, Bro. Daren Downs and I traveled to Mandalay, Burma to place the SOC into that language.
We didn't fully understand God's wisdom in this, but within months after the completion of the school, Burmese tribal refugees began to come to the same refugee camps that the Karen were in and we had the school ready to use. Now in some camps, this school is used exclusively.
I've ministered in Thailand, Burma, Cambodia, China, Laos, Malaysia, India, Mexico, and Russia. But now with the Karen and Burmese migrating to America, we are starting schools here in America. In the near future, we will be going to Australia, Canada, and Europe as well to minister to the Karen people located in those nations.
