Mongolia Report
by Joel Pledge SOC Director
In a village church in eastern Mongolian four women missionaries were fasting and
praying for direction and guidance from the Lord. While they were seeking the Lord an
invitation came to the first Mongolian language School of Christ to be held in the city of
Erdenet, Mongolia. They immediately recognized the hand of the Lord and made
arrangements to travel over 600 miles to be in the meetings. God met them there.
That first School of Christ in Mongolia was held November 17-30, 2011.
Previously there had been a Russian language school held here because of the presence of
Russian churches, but this was the first full school for Mongolian Christians. Every day we
met with forty plus pastors and church leaders and taught them the School. Mongolia has
had freedom of worship for twenty years. The New Testament was translated just over seventeen
years ago and the Old Testament ten years ago. There has been a steady stream of
Charismatic pastors and teachers coming to Mongolia teaching primarily "health and
wealth" theology, so the foundation in the true Word of God was weak.
The first two days of teaching were difficult as we taught the deep truths about the
nature of the church, Christian life and Jesus. But while teaching on the blood of Jesus,
a woman who had been sick for five days was instantly healed. She was one of the
missionaries from eastern Mongolia. The truth of God broke through and the Holy Spirit
fell upon the School. After that day there was a freedom to teach and a renewal began
to take place in the lives of all those present.
Our prayer times were transformed as the Holy Spirit convicted the hearts of pastors of
selfishness, materialism, and bitterness. True repentance came and lives were broken
before the Lord. All of the students testified of how God was leading them out of
"religious works" and into a deeper relationship with the Lord through His Word and His
Spirit.
The people were so hungry for the Word of God that we began our day at 8:00 am and
finished at 8:00 pm. They asked us to stay and teach another week, but that would be
impossible. We told them our plans for the translation of the School of Christ book and
DVDs, and that we would return for further teaching. We believe this is the time for the
Mongolian Church.
The enthusiasm of the Faith Movement has died, and now we are
able to lay a foundation based upon the Word of God for the Church. We ask you to join
with us in this great opportunity. Mongolia was on the heart of Brother Clendennen in
the year before he went to be with the Lord and now the Lord has seen fit to open wide
this door of opportunity. The costs are great. Thousands of dollars are needed to
translate the book and the videos. But the opportunities are too great to ignore.
The nation is open unto us now. We must establish the Church on a firm foundation, so the
Mongolian church will be strong, Pentecostal church able to reach the lost of their
nation. Pray with us. Give, so that we may fulfill the will of the Lord as it was given to
Brother Clendennen; Let us reach Mongolia with the Gospel.
